Zen Corner at Home

Hey All!!!

Hows you all?Hows life in your part of the world? Well on my side, it's been pretty good since past few days(*touchwood*). I am getting good quality work that I am thoroughly enjoying. I am ACTUALLY enjoying being busy. This is such a wonderful feeling. I never thought that I would ever enjoy being busy with work. But as they say never say never.
Lately, I have experienced myself being attracted to spirituality. I mean this is good,right...atleast that makes my mom happy...so its pretty beautiful.

And yes, I am also doing what I love the most....giving a makeover to my room...i am so very excited about it...spending hours on pinterest for some inspiration...I am chalking out the amalgm of morrocan + kashmiri + bohemian decor for my room...but very understated. Getting a huge mirror tooo....yayyieee....Okay I am not going to tell any thing else....you will have to wait to see the final outcome.Lets hope it comes out as I am dreaming it to be (*fingers crossed*). So a bit of renovating work is being done.

Clicked these pictures in the morning today....with the sunrays beaming through the windows, they are lending a subtle glow to our buddha.  And the fresh grass from our backyard and some incense..and tadaa our own zen corner at home....loving these pictures. Read the other zen post here.

Excuse me for the table, it is under renovation...used it for its rustic and raw appeal.
Enjoy the pictures.

Did you feel the vibes these pictures are sending...? Well they send really positive vibes to me....but maybe that is because of the spiritual connect I am experiencing...

Jute and Greens

Hey people,
So hows winter in your part of the world. Well here in Delhi its super cold even now. Anywhoo here today I will be sharing the corner of our kitchen which has been shared before (here). Though not much has been changed as this corner still holds the green in jute wrapped bottles. These jute bottles are DIYed. I got few bottles from the local kabadiwallah for Rs. 10 each ,covered it all up in jute and just add few money plant leaves into it-cheap,easy and classy. Now these surely lend some freshness to the kitchen

Do you also have a green corner? Share with me in the comments section.

Wanderers

Hey everyone,
A few days back I showed you the tremendously growing wandering jews in our garden under the hedges (here). Now then also I told you that these can floruish in the water too.So ,I, often get a few cuttings inside to bring in the nature but also because these grow at such an amazing speed that gardener is usually cutting it once a week and I just dont want those cuttings to get wasted....So one fine day when our weird (later on that)gardener cut these, I just have to get those inside. So here they sit in a vase by the window staring the wanderers outside.

Are you digging the wanderers???Share with me in the comments section.

WANDERING JEW

Heyyaaa!!!
Today I am sharing the story of a plant that was propogated from a single stem and that is well flourished today and covers a significant portion of our garden under the hedges. This plant is the Wandering Jew. I am simply amazed by the growing speed of this plant. Its been only few months that we planted few of the stem cuttings under the hedges to cover the shabby looking soil and whoooaaa its already filled and how... Infact this is slowely trying to cover the grass area and so we have to get it cut on a regular basis.
And not only these flourish outdoors but when placed in the water inside the house, these still look fresh and growing after days.

bamboo

Heyaaa!!!
So hows the week coming around for you.....??? Its getting super cold here in Gurgaon...and with no sun during the day we are confined to our quilts with hot coffees....its not that I am complaining or sort...but this routine is getting too monotonous and boring. So to jazz up things at my place, I redecorated and brought in a lot of greens inside the house....anywhooo the new year is here and I am all geared up with my resolutions...haha....I do make some easy ones that are sure to get completed......hehe like last year I made a resolution of completing my graduation...and I did *smiles and wink*...its a great booster and helps you complete other of your not so easy resolutions....trust me on that...and try it for your self....
The other day I clicked these pics of my parent's bedroom. I just love bamboo shoots...they are soo adaptable and easy to maintain....they also have a great feng shui relevance...and look gorgeous lending some green to your room.

Sorry for the bad picture qulaity...clicked from my phone.

Would love to listen from you... interact with me in the comments section.

ONE FINE WINTER DAY AND SOME BLAH

Hey Everyone!!

As the winters are setting in , the weather is becoming foggy , dull and gloomy. Today when I woke up, there was no sign of sunshine in here (I woke up at 9:00 am..not too early & not too late) and everything looked sooo boring and dull. So to brighten things up I bought some fresh roses from the local florist and brought in few of my garden cuttings inside to brighten up the home. I love these pink roses in my favourite kettle. I put the mor pankhis in the sugar bowl and the remaining roses in the milk bowl and then kept them in my favorite corners. Some vanilla candles in the evening and fresh fragrance of these roses made the house smell yum.(Literally I mean these vanilla candles are really yum, It smells like something is baking in the oven)...awww how I love the smell of baking....never mind.

I mean I am craving vanilla muffins while writing this post..But I cant have them because I am on a diet ( hehehe though sugary coffee is acceptable in this diet )..Anywhoo later on my daily diets (Diets because I go on diet several times a day....after having a heavy food(read it yummy full of calories food) I again go on diet out of guilt).

So hows winter coming up for you? Share in the comments section.

Infusing Colors!!!!!!!

Hey!!
When it comes to decorating your home, most of us play it safe with neutral colors by  opting for browns, beiges, creams, off-whites and greys. It takes a lot of courage to opt for a bright color on  your sofa or any other pieces of furniture over a safe neutral piece. Now, today the focus will be on how one can infuse colors into the home decor without going over-the-top.

Some handy tips:-

1. PUT ON A THEME - Think about a theme and work on it. For ex. : You can go for lotus theme with pink accents, lotus candle votives, pink cushions, lotus flowers etc. Or you can also opt for peacock theme by going gaga over vibrant blues and greens in cushions, throws, wall color, mor pankhi in a vase. You just need to broaden your imagination.Go for different themes and shop for it.

                                                                    (peacock theme)

2. PAINT A SINGLE WALL IN BRIGHT HUES: Instead of going all white/cream on your walls (I know it looks serene...but we talking about colors right?), paint a single wall in colors such as yellows, oranges, pinks, reds, blues, greens or even black(you gotta be super daring to try this...but trust me it looks stunning). You can also go for different patterns or wall stickers on the wall to make it the focal point of your room.

3. RUGS: Rugs add an interesting element of warmth to your room. These can instantly brighten up any space. Buy your rugs/ mats in vibrant hues and coordinate or contrast with your room decor. These are available in different shapes and sizes and in various textures too. Just throw on a rug and bring on the floor cushions to glam up your space.

4. BRING IN THE NATURE: If you aren't willing to paint your wall bright or changing your upholstery in bright hues, but still want to infuse some colors, then nature comes to the rescue.Bring in your lush green plants, garden cuttings, flowers from marigolds, cosmos, roses, tulips and even the wild varieties. They will add a pop of color without going over-board. Place them in every possible corner of your house and instantly see the difference. Put your garden cuttings/ flowers in vases, kettels, cups, soup bowls(yaa...and I am not joking...just try it once), wine bottles or in any thing that you think can hold them.

5. DRAPES: Yes..Yes..Yess...long flowing drapes in bright bright colors are to die for. Get them in sheer or in opaque , these are the best way of adding the color to the decor. If your overall decor is in neutral shades, then your drapes in shocking colors(magenta, pinks, maroons, reds, greens, yellows, purples.........any color from the rainbow I mean) will act as a contrast and will give definition to your room. But if you already have too much color in your decor, then go subtle on the color of your drapes.Too much color can sometimes be a bit eye souring.

6.PAINTINGS: Buy your paintings large, colorful and bright. The paintings are the best alternative if you dont wish to paint your wall but still want some color.

7. CUSHIONS/THROWS/RUNNERS: Bright colored cushions, throws and runners looks alluring and brightens up the dullest of the space. Buy your cushions in different shapes and sizes and make sure they are uber fluffy. Put on a bright colored throw on your neutral sofa, and if you have a bright sofa then you could either add a contrasting color or some neutral colored throw.

Their are just plenty of ideas to add colors to your decor. Toss your imagination a bit and look how it makes a difference.
