Hey all!!
Today is the eight day of navratra ( thats why it is called ashtmi). It marks the end of the 7 day fasting of navratra for us and feasting and praying small little girls(regarded as various forms of goddess durga called as kanjakein) and one boy..the menu includes poori, chole and halwa. And every one says Jai mata di and take their blessings. We give them gifts and clean their feet, apply kumkum on foreheads and role moli (red thread) on the wrists. And also we sow wheat seeds (called khetri) on the first day of the navratra and on the eighth/ninth day(some people also celebrate navmi) we immerse this in the holy river. Also during these Days we abstain from onions/garlic/non veg etc and only eat satvik food.
